We use GitBook to document software programs and we need to show keyboard shortcuts like Ctrl+Z in our documentation.
In GitHub Markdown, this is supported through HTML's dedicated
<kbd>
tag. (Paste<kbd>Ctrl</kbd>+<kbd>Z</kbd>
into the comment field below and view the preview to see how it works.) However, the<kbd>
tag is not supported in GitBook.It would be very helpful if we could use the
<kbd>
tag to display shortcuts in GitBook documents! Of course, the GitBook app would need to load the necessary CSS to make it look nice, like Ctrl+Z.Notes:
Ctrl
+Z
orCtrl+Z
. However, these methods doesn't have the same appearance and accessibility advantages as the<kbd>
tag.<kdb>
tag renders as Ctrl+Z, which is quite similar to its inline code rendering:Ctrl
+Z
. However, I don't think GitBook's inline code font works well for keyboard shortcuts (it's fine for code).Beta Was this translation helpful? Give feedback.
