European Food Safety Authority

The FoodEx2 SCA web site is not reachable, how can I solve this?

Please ensure that your handset is able to request connections to external websites. You may verify this by simply accessing the application with a mobile phone using your mobile data plan.

The application remains loading, what can I do to resolve this issue?

Please note that compatibility is not provided for all browsers. Try opening it using Chrome.

I get very few terms for some food descriptions and in some cases they are not useful for coding. Any suggestions?

Although we are constantly trying to improve our base dataset, there is a possibility that some terms are preferred over others due to a sub-optimal balance of the data. In this regard, we suggest lowering the threshold in the settings and trying the coding again. Also, if you have access to the feedback section, please send us feedback with this description and code to help us further improve the service.

We have food data to code in different languages. Is it possible to use FoodEx2 SCA with languages other than English?

Yes, as for now FoodEx2 SCA allows encoding of food descriptions from a subset of languages. You can set your main language on the settings page.

Is it possible to encode a group of terms with one click rather than encoding them one by one?

Currently, FoodEx2 SCA only allows one coding description at a time. However, we are working on a new feature that would allow multiple food descriptions to be encoded with a single click.

I searched for a food but could not find any relevant context related term. Can we help improve the prediction of such food?

Sure, we would appreciate your input to help us further improve the FoodEx2 SCA models. Please note that feedback can only be submitted by a selected list of users.

Where can I find metrics related to the version of the model used by FoodEx2 SCA?

All metrics related to a model can be found in this wiki, please refer to the following section.

What are the FoodEx2 domains covered by the FoodEx2 SCA?

Currently the exposure hierarchy is the one covered by the tool. In the coming months we will be working on new models that may eventually expand and thus cover additional domains (e.g. feed).
